Bats, Bats, Bats

We are going Batty in 2/3 Wilson. To get into the spirit of Halloween we are studying Bats, Spiders and Owls.

We have been looking at Fact vs. Fiction and learning about the types of bats in the world, how they hunt, what they look like, how are they different, and what do they eat.

Ask you child to tell you about what they have learned!

Here is the documentary about Bats that we watched.

Keeping a safe learning environment

Hi there,

Due to the high volume of allergies, sensitivities and traffic within our school, we are asking parents to refrain from sending in items with peanuts.

This is to keep cross contamination low between everybody and the classrooms. We have many visitors throughout the day and as well as monitors from different classes.

Also, please talk to your child about refraining from sharing their lunch with others. This is to ensure that they have enough in their lunch for both nutrition breaks.

Thank you for your help and understanding.

Spirit Assembly tomorrow

The additional incentives are as follows....

Good Luck Friends!!

RED Folders!!

Take Home Reading Folder
Dear Parents,

Please continue to read at home with your child. I hope everyone has had a chance to log onto Raz- Kids. The RED folder that your child brought home is the French take home reading program and has little readers that they have practiced reading in class. I know I have friends who are eager to move levels in English and French, and I look forward to seeing this happen!

As I meet with them during guided reading, I will determine whether they are ready to move up a level. Please keep in mind that building confidence is very important and re-reading a story is just as important as reading it the first time. Please remember to ask questions about the story: characters, location, what happened, why did it happen?

In the RED folder, I have included a French sound page for reference and a comprehension page for you. Please sign the parent page after you have read it and date it. Please return it every Friday and they will come home with a new book that day. As it becomes more of a habit, they will be able to choose more than one at a time.

Also continue to work on the Words of the week as building vocabulary is also an important skill. The words are taken from what we are doing in class.

Thank you for your support,

Mlle Wilson :)

Fire Safety Week

Hi All!

This week is Fire Prevention week. Today the fire fighters came in to give a demonstration about fire safety. We were able to see a fire fighter in full gear and see the fire engines.

Ask your child about the presentation. What were some of the important things the fire fighters spoke about today?

A fun activity you can do with your child is:
Draw a picture that shows your family's fire escape plan and practice it.Safety questions answered at fire station open house
